Cold-blooded horses are often susceptible to kidney disease!
Shyness, tanned legs or a peculiarly sweet, urea-like coat odour, sometimes also muscle stiffness, are just a few characteristics that indicate a detoxification disorder and a certain kidney weakness in the horse. This is not even that rare.
It makes sense to change the horse's diet. The total protein ration should be reduced. This can be achieved by significantly reducing the amount of pasture grass, partially replacing hay with straw and feeding more oil and less grain. Sugar beet pulp is particularly low in protein.
